Blog Date

Ok, so I'm a little behind in posting, and my 'date' already posted about this, but I have a picture so HA!

This weekend I went to my in-laws house. Pave had to help his Dad remodel a rental house that his Dad owns. While they were working hard, I went on a date! :)

I met up with Jenicini, and had a BLAST! I haven't had that much fun in a while. We talked about teaching, about life, about our husbands and the military, and about our struggles with infertility. I so enjoyed lunch, and being able to talk to a friend who understands all the crap I've been going through, on top of dealing with the crap that our husbands careers throw at us, and how to be a 'graceful military wife'. We had to end lunch early (three hours later), because my husband kept texting me asking where I was at. We decided to do it again real soon... but this time to include shopping!

Drama!!!

Since we have moved far, FAR, away from base, the drama is essentially gone from my life (well, scratch that, now the drama has changed to dealing with my step-daughters mother...).

So I substitute it... and it's so much better to WATCH drama then LIVE drama!

Though they aren't my favorite 'Housewives', the Atlanta crew is finished out with the reunion...

Bring on the blond ladies of the OC!!!

(My personal favorite, but depending on this season... the NJ girls might edge them out!)

Albuquerque Day 1

So it was a long trip out there... like it always is! Friday was our first full day there. We ended up hanging around my parents house mostly. Dad made his famous pancakes, which Aleigha loved! Mom had a haircut, so we went along. It was nice to see Con, she's been cutting my hair since I was little, and last time I saw her was when she did my hair for my wedding. We ate lunch at one of my favorite places - Dion's Pizza. They were just an Albuquerque thing, but they have been expanding, opening up in other places in Utah and Texas. They have great pizza (we had the usual- pepperoni, mushrooms, and green chili, yum!). I also got a bottle of their ranch dressing. They make it themselves, and its ah-maz-ing!! My parents own rental property, and acquired one since I was there last, so we went to go check it out, they are completely remodeling it. The rest of the afternoon was spent just catching up on sleep! My best friend is in El Paso doing her internship (?) I think! She's in med school, isn't to residency yet... so whatever that section is called, that's where she is. We haven't seen each other since my wedding, so it was great to see her! We ended up staying up late talking in the bedroom (Pave was not happy, he was trying to sleep!).

Love this picture

Why you ask.... because it only means one thing! We're going on vacation!!! YEAH!!!
Actually it's not a 'true' vacation to somewhere tropical or anything, but its a trip home, and those are always wonderful! Not that being excited about going home was enough, but I found out late last night that my best friend, who I haven't seen since our wedding (she's been bouncing around Texas becoming a doctor), is going to be coming up for a few days. DOUBLE BONUS!!
This weekend will start the Albuquerque International Balloon fiesta, and I haven't seen it since Pave moved me to this god-forsaken place the mid-west. It is truly one of my favorite time of the year, and the kick off of fall.
We are also going to bring my step daughter- Aleigha. She has never been to my parents house, and boy are they excited! I know that we are planing on going to Santa Fe on the Rail Runner (commuter train that is only about a year old), Dixon apple farm (to pick our own apples, and get some home made cider), go to the Crest to show her where Pave proposed to me. We live on a ranch (sort of... it's not working anymore! Dad didn't like all the animals), and she thinks maybe PaPa will let her drive the farm truck in the pasture... we told her 'we'll see' but really my Dad can't wait to take her out!
I didn't sleep well last night... I think that its all the excitement. But now that I think about it, it could have been the THREE dogs that were in bed with us! Kayden is Pave's dog, and she was compleatly stressing! She hates it when we leave (I had to drug her with anti-psycotics while he was deployed), so he let her up on the bed (she was hiding betweent he couch and a cedar chest). Well, when one gets on, they all get on. Ya, fun!
Well- We're off! Albuquerque, here we come!

Why today?

It has been a long week, ended by a rough day...

For the first time today, I cried about moving. We've been here since the middle of May, I really expected it sooner, but no, today was the day. I'm not sure why, except that I'm extremely tired, but that's not really a good excuse.

Granted, this is only my second move in my whole life, its nothing like the last one. The last move was away from my family, and into the real life of being a military wife. Middle of nowhere base, no job in sight, no friends anywhere, new job for Pave, NEW everything. Maybe it was because we lived on base, I'm not sure, but I made friends there, fast. Not a lot, but two within the first month that I still talk to, though one is across the ocean, and the other one moved when her husband separated, and went back to civilian life.

I'm sure I'll be over this tomorrow, but driving around in this dumb city, trying to find a store, was the final thing that broke me down. So driving around in this dumb city I cried.

SO FUNNY!

Well, I'm not sure how many people actually read this site, but if you do, here is another one you will love. My girlfriend and I are ADDICTED to the Real Housewives of Orange County, New York City, Atlanta, and New Jersey. The drama is just so great (almost like a spouses club!). We always joke about what the episodes would be for the "real desperate housewives of the military'. It turned out so good, she figured she had to put it out there! I love her! Go check out her site and have a laugh!

Another Confession

Again, back to my splurge... truuconfessions.com usually I just browse the 'Military Wives' board, but I went over to the wife one today. Can I just say, I have so many 'ahhha' moments while reading other's confessions... it's really quite sad. This was mine today-

I've come to think of all my ex's as teachers. They all helped me learn in one way or another. And in some ways, my wedding was like my graduation day.

I've probably pondered this WAY to much, but this is what I have learned from my ex's, starting with my first...

Don't ever date your ex boyfriends best friend (yes... I should have know this before hand, I have no defence)

Don't put to much time/effort/planning into a high school romance.

Don't give up things in high school because you're boyfriend can't go with you (ie-senior trip).

Don't date ANYONE your freshman year of college.

Don't date a body builder who takes 'weekend trips' with his brother... you'll find out eventually that the reason he's gone is that he is in Mexico, and they are buying steroids. Even if he brings you back gifts- not a good plan!

Don't date someone who calls his mom the MOMENT he wakes up.

If he can drink a case a beer a night, just walk away.

If he's pissed because he agreed to pay for the flight for your vacation while he was drunk, because he can no longer use the $$$ as a down payment on a bass boat (really- a bass boat in New Mexico... he should have know better, it's a STINKING desert)

If you know how all his friends like their beer ( an open can, in a glass, can washed off but not open) but he doesn't know your favorite color... again, walk away.

When your father has been right about EVERY relationship you have had, and he tells you this one is the biggest looser you've ever been with...

Don't date someone who will pick his bottle of Jack Daniels over his planned date night with you.

And last but not least, when he backhands you, walk away. (it happened once, I walked away.)

These are a FEW of the many lessons that I've learned from my 'major' relationships. My biggest DO, is to take that college public speaking class, and take a chance- go sit next to the cutest guy in class, it might just work out for you! :) It' did for me, and 7 months to the day later, I GRADUATED! (at least from the dating world, into this crazy/fun world they call marriage).

I'm sure there are more, but I'm tired. What have the 'teachers' in your life taught you?

Possable Gift?

So one of the guys in our town is getting ready to finish up his recruiting duty. I thought maybe this would be a nice framed gift, some how frame it and put a quote under it, along with the dates he was here... any comments, ideas, suggestions?

This Life

So... my secret (well now, not so secret) addiction is the website, truuconfessions.com. They have a section for military wives that I love, most of the time. I can't take credit for this 'post', however, I feel it is me. There was a ton of bickering back and forth on if you should let your husbands career define me. One post was condemning "Air Force Wife: Toughest Job In The Air Force" bumper stickers, saying they were stupid. Well, this was a response that I have embraced, props to whoever wrote it!

"This life is not easy. This life does not make sense. This life makes you say Good Bye A LOT. This life is not for everyone. This life has made me stronger. This life is rewarding. I don't care what anyone says. This life defines me. I am A MILITARY WIFE. Do not tell me otherwise."

Ditto.
